Cranden Diamond, a leading manufacturer of precision diamond & CBN grinding wheels, recently saved an estimated £19,272 with the installation of an SCR30PM permanent magnet screw compressor.

When the company, based in Benenden, wanted to replace a compressor, they called in SCR Air distributors CMS Ltd in Kent, to advise on a suitable unit.

The specification was demanding. A 22kW compressor was required to run both CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines and shot blasters (machines which clean and strengthen metal using small steel beads—or shot—and which produce very little dust). This compressor would be one of the workhorses of their operation—expected to run 24/7.

As well as having to be robust to meet the demands of continuous operation, it would have to combine energy efficiency with a smaller physical footprint than their current machine.

A permanent magnet air compressor proved to be the perfect partner for their operation. With low-noise and high-efficiency, they are one of the most cost-effective machines on the market; pairing efficiency with energy savings.

Not only has the 10 bar, 30HP compressor slipped seamlessly into its new role, the customer has calculated that the installation has reduced their half-hourly kWh meter reading from 167kWh to 145kWh, a saving of 22kWH. Estimating a charge of 10p per kWh, on a machine running 8,760 hours, this equates to an annual saving of £19,272.

Which proves, if proof were needed, that SCR compressors are the gold standard when it comes to saving you money, enhancing your green credentials and powering your plant.
