On the trail of the lonesome vine
SCR compressors, kind on your pocket and on the environment.
When a tomato producer in the Midlands was looking for an air compressor to supply air to its furnace, SCR proved to be the pick of the crop. The furnace burns scrap wood, which in turn generates electricity to heat glasshouses.
In keeping with the company’s innovative and sustainable methods of growing tomatoes (they use only natural predators to control pests and diseases), they needed an air compressor which was both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
An SCR Air distributor provided the ideal solution in a 7.5kW variable speed permanent magnet compressor, an SCR10PM2, one of the most energy efficient in its class.
Ranging in speed from 7.5kW to 15kW, the PM range of compressors can save between 20 –60% in energy costs (compared to their fixed speed counterparts). Their patented integration of the main air receiver with the oil / air separator means that the power to size ratio is vastly increased. Its motor is the super-premium efficient IE4 design, and VSD control means that the compressor only uses the exact amount of power required, so no wasted energy. This made the compressor ‘plum perfect’ not just for the company’s requirement, but also their sustainable approach to food production.
